| 2013 Week 7 - MISS Gets Commitment from #1WR Zach Clark from Minor Academy in Adamsville, Alabama.
Five star Adamsville, AL receiver Zach Clark announced this morning on Fox 6 News in Alabama that he plans to spend the next four years playing footbal at Ole Miss. Clark picked Mississippi over Iowa and North Carolina.
"Alabama was my dream school I would've loved to stay home but Ole Miss has a recent history recruiting from Minor so it was a comfortable meeting everytime Coach Macc came to see me. I was getting text messages all night and calls daily everyone was trying desperately to sign me but I realize I'll have the ability to start immediately and continue a tradition from Minor receivers that Trey Talbot has currently set," Clark said.
The five-star wide receiver adds immediate depth to an upperclass corps of receivers. Clark is the hurt you in every way type of receiver who will grind out extra yards and just as equally go deep and hurt you just as bad.
Clark was recently fond of Coach Kooken's attempts to recruit him into the "frathouse" over at Iowa and Macc admits it posed a serious threat because Clark from day one was their "number one".
The 6-0, 200-pound pass catcher recently took an official visit to Mississippi and came away very impressed with the campus, academics and steady coaching staff.
Zach Clark Scouting Report: Clark is the complete package at wide receiver. At 6-0, 200 pounds he has the size to dominate every corner at the college level and he runs crisp routes that consistently find wide windows. He makes the impossible catch look easy and will consistently catch the ball, in traffic or otherwise. Clark can be that underneath, over the middle or deep threat target at the next level immediately and he should replace Trey Talbot, also of former Minor High fame as he elects for the draft among the most eligible receivers in this class. They're saying Clark will have a nearly identical season many are projecting.

| 2013 Week 9 - Rebels Garner Commitments From Four!!
Ole Miss once again takes the top spot in the recruiting polls, but according to Coach Macc it could be for a very short period of time.
"Our class looks great right now, we've addressed our WR issue - we've found playmakers on the defensive line, we've signed a pocket-type QB who will compete immediately for starting time and we'll be replacing our punter. There's only about two guys our coaching staff have been talking to right now - but this week during our bye week we'll be taking trips out through the South to find some playmakers for our team,"
MAX HARRIS ***** Quarterback (#2 QB - #18 in ESPNU 150) Adamsville, Alabama Minor Academy
Ht: 6'0 Wt: 178 .lbs 40: 4.86 GPA: 3.5
Scouting Report On The Hoof - Harris does not possess pro-style QB size and he's terribly lean through the upper body. His lower body seems to be further along in physical development but right now he does not look like the QB that will threaten college coaches on first glance. Harris has all the tools and make-up to be a terrific college QB, he will really need to progress physically if he wants to become a starting QB in the SEC.
Needs Improvement - Size. Harris has the arm strength and the accuracy to play nearly immediately on spot starts, but I wouldn't be quick to say this kid has the ability to be a starter immediately, especially in the SEC. He needs to work on developing physically to make a case for the starting spot.
Most Impressive - Arm. Harris has been torching D2 schools nearly every game he's played in and he shows that he can make literally any throw. He tends to rely too much on his arm strength and could use some work on the touch on some of his passes.
Conclusion - Hopefully, for his sake he will get a chance to redshirt to get used to the offensive system at Ole Miss before he gets thrown to the wolves. Right now he looks like a small high school player despite being one of the top prospects in D2. The type of games this kid has had have people saying NFL material but it's in the air.
JOE GREENWOOD **** Defensive End (#8 DE) Shawnee, Oklahoma Shawnee HS
Ht: 6'2 Wt: 247 .lbs 40: 4.54 GPA: 2.7
Scouting Report On The Hoof - Greenwood has a terrific make-up to go along with his motor always running and is terrific physically for a strong or weakside defensive end. He looks like a big mean, quarterbacks nightmare and he plays with the disposition of one, as well. He's got a big, wide, thick body that is very well proportioned and could be one of the best "football bodies" in the class.
Needs Improvement - Pursuit. He has the strength to push blockers off and away, he has the speed to track ball carriers but he could work on the way he attempts to tackle ball carriers in open field. Some short, quick guys will have no problem leaving him in the dust because he simply goes to smash any and every ball carrier in the mouth.
Most Impressive - Speed/Strength. I can't remember the last defensive end who had such a terrific set of skills regarding strength and speed combined. He has terrific ability to power past and through blockers and can just as easily beat blockers with speed and finesse moves.
Conclusion - Greenwood should look forward to a year redshirting learning the defensive system at Ole Miss but he will be asked to start exclusively in his redshirt sophmore year when the only current upperclassmen on him are graduated.
SHANE GATEWOOD **** Wide Receiver (#9 WR - #40 in ESPNU 150) Adamsville, Alabama Minor Academy
Ht: 6'7 Wt: 202 .lbs 40: 4.36 GPA: 3.7
Scouting Report On The Hoof - Gatewood has amazing size for a high school athlete right now. On the field with his current pupils, he looks like a man among boys with hia 6'7 200+ pound frame. He has the make-up of a terrific college wide-out and is a monster of a target.
Needs Improvement - Hands. Gatewood could improve his ability to catch the ball when he isn't going to find space and be open. His every-down type of hands could be improved and make him a lethal target that would be literally undefendable.
Most Impressive - Size/Speed. Kids with size and speed like this are one in a million. There's no quesiton this kid was among the most highly regarded WR prospects throughout the country with his 4.36 speed let alone his 6'7 height!! Lookout player without a DOUBT! Certainly NFL bound.
Reminiscent Of - Plaxico Burress. His ability to run crisp routes, use his speed to get open as well as his size to make himself undefendable at time should have a similar career as the former NFL wideout.
Conclusion - Gatewood's size and speed are something that will be tough to keep on a bench. He's coming in to Ole Miss through a year of transition with four graduating seniors at WR. He could be asked to play as early as week one his freshman year. | |
