10 SRS - 13 Scholarships Available

5 Commits

4 Star T - Eric Anderson - Chose Maryland over Oklahoma and Washington - Great blocker, very strong, needs to improve footwork and work on conditioning, as young as the Terps are this season on the line, expect all their tackles and guards to be back, will probably take a redshirt next season

4 Star C - Eric Jackson - Chose Maryland over Texas, Alabama, Florida State, and Oklahoma - great footwork, needs to get stronger physically and mentally, with Marylands starting center graduating, could see playing time next season

4 Star DE - Wes Stewart - Chose Maryland over Penn State and Oklahoma - led his JUCO team's conference in sacks this season, great speed off edge, very good tackler, great ability to get to quarterback, needs to get stronger, could possibly take redshirt or see situational playing time depending on how he looks in camp

3 star TE - Andy Breedlove - good size, decent speed for tight end, great hands, good run blocker, needs to work on footwork and get stronger, will probably take a redshirt next season but could be a star in Coach Hickerson's offense one day

5 star WR - Josh McCarty - number 3 WR in nation, good size at 6'3 218, not exceptionally well at any one sill, but a very, very good football player all around, does not possess break away speed, but is deceptively quick, runs great routes for a high school kid, very physical receiver, should see immediate playing time and will ne playing on Sundays some day

The Terps picked up 2 more commitments this week as they look to sneak inside the top 10 of Rivals team rankings, currenly 13 before picking up these 2:

2 star FB - Cody King - chose the Terps over Arizona, Standford, and Nevada - blocking fullback, not great with the ball in his hands

4 star ATH - Travis Royal - great speed and agility, tall but needs to add weight, 6'5 208, decent route runner, could be better since he went JUCO route, could play safety but has said Maryland is recruiting him t play receiver

The Terps picked up 1 more commitment to end the 2013 regular season, but were not able to sneak in to the top 10 of the final rivals recruiting rankings of the regular season, the final new commitment was:

3 star FS - Chris Browning - Chose Maryland over Miami - according to Coach Hickerson he is the "perfect size" for a free safety at 6'1 202 lbs, not great, but good speed, tackles well, great in zone coverage which fits right into Coach Hickerson's scheme, very hard hitter, needs to work on explosiveness, strengths, and smarts

At the end of the 2013 regular season, the Maryland Terrapins recruiting class consists of:

1 5 star
4 4 stars
2 3 stars
1 2 star

There are 2, 2 stars, left on the board for the regular season, a kicker and punter since the Terps kicker this season has a very weak leg, Coach Hickerson would have a strong legged kicker over a weak accurate kicker any day of the week.

With 14 scholarships left to offer, the Terps plan to find 3 or 4 guys in the offseason to fill the rest of their needs, hopefully a quarterback is out there somewhere, another playmaker on the offensive side of the ball could be used as well.

The Terps have picked up 3 recruits thus far this offseason.

2 star K - Breatt banks - chose Maryland over UL Monroe - strong leg, not very accurate, Maryland special teams coach Andrew Post has been known to produce some good kickers though, could see action next year as current kicker has a very weak leg

4 star FS(juco) - Doug Castillo - Maryland was only offer - decent speed for safety, good in coverage, good tackler for safety, great pursuit and takes great angles, needs to get smarter

4 star DE - Ed Arnold - chose Maryland over Michigan - not your typical Jeff Hickerson defensive end recruit, big more physical DE than pass rushing finesse defensive end, 6'5 252, do not be surprised to see him bulk up and move to defensive tackle

The Terps picked up their final 2 commitments to round out their 2013 recruiting class, which stands as the number 13 class in the nation right now.

4 star ATH Scott Williams - chose Maryland over USC - decent speed, below average agility, runs GREAT routes and has GREAT hands, definitely a possession receiver, will more than likely see time next year IF he can increase his speed just a little, if not, he may take a redshirt season and work on speed and agility

4 star OLD kevin Denman - chose Maryland over Pittsburgh - great speed, great tackling ability, gets off blocks very well and takes great angles, decent in coverage also, only downside is mental, he needs to get smarter on the football field
