Nebraska wins 26-17, finds tailback

Nebraska won 26 to 17 at Kansas State to improve to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Big 12 play on Saturday, however the story was Melvin Pittman. Formerly known as the third string running back, now known as Nerbaskas best football player. Pittman was part of a drug scandal deal over the summer and although he wasnt charged with anything, Coach Hickerson dished out some sort of punishment, citing he had been "around the wrong people". Well now with Pittman's first start of the year comes results - Pittman carried the ball 23 times for 240 yards and a touchdown. "Im a running back, they give me the ball and I run, I got the best O line in the nation in front of me, so it makes my job easy," said Pittman. Backup Steve Williams ran 10 times for 26 yards and former fumble plagued starter Mike Ewing only carried the ball once for 4 yards. Other great news for Nebraska - Quarterback Keith Causey had a very efficient day going 14 for 19 for 122 yards and a touchdown, however he also threw another interception. Freshman tight end Greg McCloud continued to impress catching the ball 7 times for 59 yards - he is going to be a great one according to Coach Hickerson. Defensively Robert Sisk had a spectacular day, tallying 11 tackles, 6 for a loss and 3 sacks. Sisk also forced a fumble.

Next week the Cornhuskers return home to host number 24 Texas.
