A&M takes advantage of a bye week in the first week of the new season...as Coach Gruden is able to visit 12 recruits and takes 7 verbal commitments to start the recruiting season of with a bang...5 of the commits are ESPN top 150

Coach Phillips first game in the Horseshoe is a wild one; winning against former squad USF 49-39

In what would be a game of interesting backstories and drama, the game lived up to the hype. A wild affair in The Show, showed an offensive barrage on both sides. It would be a contrast of styles, as USF spread the field as Soph QB Pettit would throw all over the sketchy SilverBullet defense. However, the Buckeyes going "smashmouth" as Phillips would call it racked the yards up on the ground behind Heisman hopeful C. Miller. There would be over 1000yards of total offense.

"This was a great win, but not a pretty one. I would have liked to see our secondary make more plays, but give USF credit they have a general back there and some playmakers."

"I was proud of the way our offense was rolling, I wanted to instill a toughness on this team, to prepare them for tough games, and Big 10 games. We want to go back to the roots of Ohio State football, a philosophy Woody Hayes would be proud of. I think we started in a good way today, as Miller got going behind our O-Line"

Wacky Stats of the Game:

For USF--

Pettit 25/42 456 yards and 3TD, 2INT
Burton 9rec 195 yards

(Told you my secondary was terrible)

For the Bucks:

C. Miller 20 car 302 yards 5TD

(He stopped rushing in the fourth, even when I was only up 10 points) I broke some long ones, check the highlights.

This was a wild game, I gotta shore up my pass defense quick!

Macc Flees Recruiting Nightmare, Takes Dream Job & "Clean Slate"

The University of Southern California is no stranger to recruiting restrictions, or coaches whom are at the helm of them in a talent-rich Los Angeles area, and with a booster program about as corrupt as any in the country. Behind Lane Kiffin the last 9 years, the Trojans have had dismal campaigns, a few winning seasons... no Pac 10s but have played the part of upset, removing a few other high profile Pac 10 teams out of the Pac 10 race along with the National Championship.

Kiffin was fired following the loss to Clemson in their bowl game last season, and replaced with a "young wiz" in terms of coach, 29 year old Coach Macc. Macc grew up a Trojans fan, whose father was infatuated with the city of LA and the team after watching the 1969 Rose Bowl as a kid. Macc coached at the University of Pittsburgh the last 8 years, earning 5 BCS Bowl Victories and had two trips to the National Championship. Macc took the opportunity to flee from a program that would be facing recruiting restrictions and violations this season following the signing of 5star WR TJ Burton along with allegations Macc had some more coming his way due to sophmore runningback Tommy Holt's recrtuitment as well.

Pat Haden, the USC athletic director got rid of Kiffin who lead a powercharged Trojans squad to average bowl games and replaced him with young Macc, not only a Trojan faithful but also a proven winner. Macc gets the keys to a program with all of the right weapons on offence, unfortunately they're all seniors. Macc, known for his recruiting ability will need to hit the trail hard and will have to focus on bringing in players who will be expected to play immediately in his program. One look at their talent on the depth chart will tell you... it's quite shallow.

While the Trojans have their work cut out for them in the Pac 10 race this season with perrenial power Oregon, the Men of Troy will apparently be inheriting the smashmouth, power running, adjust on the fly style of play. While the defense looks shaky, Macc insists TrojanNATION that this is a team that will preach ball control and impose their will on the ground "make you make a play" style of play.

Macc entered Heritage Hall today for his official welcoming party and press conference, and although it would be a sentimental and important day in his career, he got right to work immediately.

"Make no mistake about it, this is a tough squad who has Pac 10 & Rose Bowl winning season aspirations on their mind. I didn't need to do any coaching when I entered that locker room a couple days for our first official meeting and if the spring practices are any indication, this is a very well-rounded team who have come together as a collective unit to improve from last year. On the offense, we're lead by our senior signal caller QB Jaden Taylor.

"Taylors a biggg kid, 6'4 240 pounds. He is the perfect prototype pocket passer, and probably one of the most advanced in terms of quarterbacks who have played for me, positionally. He is so well-aware, his knowledge of the game is his most impressive attribute and that is key if we're going to have to rely on him to make plays for us. He has a very accurate arm and he'll be capable of doing what is asked of him to win us ball games - keep the ball moving and not turning it over.

"Running the ball we've got some holes in the middle of our offensive line but we have some excellent tackles and a great centre who have stepped up and said they would take this offense by storm. Our guys in the trenches have been working their butts off all spring and there's been some great improvements since the short time that even I've been here. Chad Bryant is this teams most explosive and dominant player. Chad will be our feature running back and he could have a Heisman type season by the years end if he can stay healthy. Chad reminds me of a former runningback for me at PITT, Reggie Hall. At 6'0 200 pounds he's a rocked up chunk of muscle, a bowling ball the way he bounces tackles and has the speed to take it to the house if he gets a crease.

"One of my favourite players based on what we've seen in spring ball is our stand-out receiver Reggie Williams. Reggie stands maybe 6 foot and weighs 170 soaken wet with his equipment on... but this kid flashes signs of brilliance and has proven he has all the intangibles to being an amazing wide receiver in this program. Argueably the most sure handed receiver in the country, we will find ways to get Reggie the ball in open space and we'll look to him when we need big plays.

"Defensively, we have a great field general who understands the game and will be perfect in this defensive system. Anthony Rogers plays with the tenacity of an NFL linebacker and having passed up the opportunity to play in the pros, I convinced Anthony staying for his senior year will improve his draft stock and potentially make him a top 5 first round pick. He runs like the wind for a linebacker and he rarely misses tackles. He is our out-spoken team leader, the type of guy who rallies the troops when he going gets tough and he will be the type of guy our defense will lean on to make plays. He loves stopping the run and loves to play in pass coverage. He's a great linebacker. Beside him MLB Kiniry who we moved from the free safety position looks to have a great senior year, standing at 6'4 tall he will give us the pass-coverage linebacker in the middle we'll need to shut offenses passing game down. That will be our main focus. Beat us on the ground if we let you, but we will be coaching the heck out of these kids to play strong, sound football on the defensive side of the ball and daring teams to pass against us,"

Macc was asked what type of offense he would run here, his typical pro-style... along with the defense he's been known to run a 3-4 with lots of nickle coverage.

"You can call our offense a multiple style. We will give teams many different looks and adjust to what they're unable to defend. Our base will be the power running game, lots of motion to get blockers infront of our big back, lots of play-action to keep the defense honest. We will need great play out of our receiving corps, two true freshman in our top 4 to make big plays. I've told Travis and Jarrett that this will be their offense soon. They understand that they will need to grow up and grow up fast because they have high expectations in this program. We will not accept losing, we will not accept taking stupid penalties... this is a movement in SC football that will establish a winning culture back into this program with it's #1 goal every year to win the Rose Bowl. With college football, getting to the Rose Bowl often has NC implications so we'll just let the chips fall where they may and we will come out strong, starting with rival Notre Dame today,"

USC vs Notre Dame - coverage beginning at 2:00pm Eastern kick off at 3:15pm

this situation is really killing me right now.. its saping the life from me...when we just throw rules out the window and just do whatever to accommodate other ppl.. we have moving rules n orders an all that but someone decides they need to move and everything turns to shit and now a guy like me is sitting here after winning year after year and never moving inna situation where i can either go big easy or go to a 3 star notre dame that just hardly seems fair.. again dont mean to be a downer or rain on ne ones parade.. but my situation sux and is unfair.. and b4 every goes n starts talking about how great my team is.. keep in mind that penn states recruiting pitches out weigh mine already.. texas a&m just signed 7 commits in one week and hasnt won a national championship.. i won 3 in a row and have never commited instant more than 2 ppl on one season.. ther def a bias in the game as thier should be.. just sux that ther is nothing i can do about it now.. because everyone has hopped all over..i honestly feel like i have no choice but to stay put n cross my fingers.. which is dumb.. this off season 2 5 stars had me number 1 and both went to fsu..i didnt out recruit oregon not once... and i only lose 1 game a year at best lol tom foolery...

ax, just my 2 cents, but i think you should get to steppin. the sooner you go, the sooner you'll have your new school where you want it to be. i realize that you can get to attached to players, and a school. hell, i hadn't ever played with anyone but unc. if you know you're not staying for the duration, the sooner the better.

also, i don't any reason you can't do for wva, what grey did for oregon. both initially 5* schools. similar pitches.

ax do what you gotta do, but what rules were we throwing out the window? Each team guys moved to were under the criteria of 4* or below. Only thing may be not staying at a school long enough. But I was at USF for 4 years.

Anyways, lets get this thing moving lol

I will say this Axe...in another OD with Goat I have ND....this is my third season with them, have them 6star....ranked 3 and playing well....anyway we are in week 4 I think, and have no one committed...so some season the recruits seem to line up early, some late so be patient, you will have plenty of good players coming to MIZZ if you stay...that being said, you really don't seem to fired up about MIZZ/Big 12, and may need a new challenge to spice it up, you seem pretty bummed out...if it was me, I would switch to in order, OU, ND, WVU, UCLA....

what rules? we had in season moves... thrown qames to make teams available titan again has moved and into the sec to florida which is a totally unrealistic move..we didnt follow the order of choice.. we just said everyone go where u want.. maybe its my bad for not throughly thinking it thru as i just like ppl to be happy.. but making everyone else happy has put me behind the 8 ball forced to either stay and suck or move and have a shot and play at a nd team that has progamming flaws and i have 0 interest in just to be relevant...ur move wasnt much of an issue bucc.. it was a pretty ligit move...

i hear ya goat i have to go now but i have no where to go.. no options for schools im interested in. and i just cant take ne lil school im intrested because we have converted into a power house od so a lil school will get lost in the mix has mizzou is doing right before my eyes..

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Regular guidelines up for discussion...just some thoughts please voice your opinion

1-6* star teams never available
(ND, OSU, Texas, Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU) *am I missing anyone?

2-2 Coach's per season max can move
3-A coach needs to be at program for 4 years minimum
4-Major accomplishment need to be meet
-One of the following... A) National Title B) Winning record in BCS bowls C) 2 or more Conference Championships

5-Sensitivity to conference balance
6-5 year rule should be in place, if a coach does not meet any of those criteria or loses a star in prestige, then they essentially get "fired" and the committee comes up with a few job offers equal to or less than the team they are at.
7-Coach has to nominate themselves before off-season, and get's to do off season for new team

lol those rules that we made that were thrown out.. just to prove i didnt make this up lol....again idc but dont make me sound crazy...we had a whole chat box conversation bout those teams n the bans because of the bias...so we have thrown that rule out completely which is fine and every one has gone to a power except 1 person.. mizzou and all the conferences with powers are full and my only option is a 3 star nd job..

don't look at stars at this point....teams like OU and ND are going to rise fast and have the built in prestige of schools like, OSU, USC, Texas, Florida, PSU, Michigan etc of the world....if you want to build up to the level your at now at Mizz, but want a new challenge...take a team like WVU, VT, UCLA....if you want to something different, take a team like Hawaii, SD State, TCU, Boise State and have fun with it....you have your 3 rings....we know your a champion LOL....

yea those rules I guess were a general outline lol.

Ax you should go to ND or Neb...those are two powerhouses that may be down right now, but you are good enough to compete. Heck look what I did with USF. User games are tough either way, give it 2 yaers and you'll feel good about where your taking your program.

Just my two cents,

And for the record on those rules, those are only a few of the powerhouses, Michigan, PSU should be included too, so yes we have many big time programs now. But this OD is all about keeping it fresh and interest. Since we go for so many years.

Who is left to play?

1-6* star teams never available (FAIL)
(ND, OSU, Texas, Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU) *am I missing anyone?
2-2 Coach's per season max can move (FAIL)
3-A coach needs to be at program for 4 years minimum (FAIL)
4-Major accomplishment need to be meet (PITT YES<ASU NO<USF NO NC<NO)
-One of the following... A) National Title B) Winning record in BCS bowls C) 2 or more Conference Championships
5-Sensitivity to conference balance (YES)
6-5 year rule should be in place, if a coach does not meet any of those criteria or loses a star in prestige, then they essentially get "fired" and the committee comes up with a few job offers equal to or less than the team they are at. (FAIL)
7-Coach has to nominate themselves before off-season, and get's to do off season for new team (NOT DONE)

Tough call...imho, we really broke the rules on this, but on the other hand want people to want a team they are excited about
and with the need to balance if we were going to do this had to make this happen....

Break Down Of Moves
OSU/Bucc=built up program at USF a mid major, for 4 years, and moving to a OSU team that had moved to 4star makes sense...plus this is a dream school for Brian, and the move made sense, with 9's leaving the Big 10 at PSU possible....worst case would to have 3 teams in the Conf....PSU, MICH, and OSU...makes for a great Conf....grade A

LSU/Goat=been at NC the entire time and need a change...moving to LSU and it's grass since they had dropped makes sense, and even out the SEC....grade A

USC/Macc=Pitt was killing the Big East...and with USC dropping to 4 star the move is a no brainer...plus with Tiatan/ASU leaving...Oregon needed an opponent....grade A+

Florida/Tiatan=this is a tough one, it helped to even out the SEC, Tiatan loves the Gators, his dream school....but in regards to sticking at a team for 4 years, or making any achievements, this was a very unrealistic move....that being said, in real life, Florida just hired a DC from Texas, so I guess a head coach at a Pac 10 school may have been a candidate?.....Grade C

7-Coach has to nominate themselves before off-season, and get's to do off season for new team

lol those rules that we made that were thrown out.. just to prove i didnt make this up lol....again idc but dont make me sound crazy...we had a whole chat box conversation bout those teams n the bans because of the bias...so we have thrown that rule out completely which is fine and every one has gone to a power except 1 person.. mizzou and all the conferences with powers are full and my only option is a 3 star nd job..

ax is right. as i said last night, i feel dirty at lsu.

am just offering my unbiased opinion on the matter. i do recall specifically that there were to be no moves to schools that were initially 6*. however, i was out the o/d for a month or so, and figured that rule had been revised. just being at lsu, doesn't seem to go along with the foundation in which this o/d was born. even though they are only a 4* school, their pitches are fvcking ridiculous. i think all but two (maybe 3) are A's or above. its obvious to me, that there are built in recruiting advantages in EA's programming. it seems that schools that are originally 6*, almost seem to walk on water. while i like LSU, their uniforms, and stadium, i feel like nick nolte did at the end of the movie, blue chips. again, i don't believe using a school that was originally 6* truly supports the spirit of this dynasty. we were supposed to be different. we were supposed to build our teams into powerhouses. not jump to a school that originally was.

i don't know what the answer is. maybe we've gone too far. but, in my opinion, where things are now, was not the definition of this o/d when it was originated. therefore, at this point in time, i would like to return to unc, or have another school selected for me.

i need a shower.

Well unfortunately the Genie is out of the bottle....as soon as we let Michigan and Penn State two or three years ago, the gates were open....

i cast one vote to start over and abide by the guidelines and rules in which this o/d was originally built on. we play every effing day and can still get through a shitload of seasons. however, i know most don't share my point of view.
