| #5 Ole Miss VS #16 Florida - I look for Derrick Herman to make some big plays again in the SEC 'ship this year, Brandon to run all over them and Tray to hurt them through the air. #8 Kansas VS #9 TCU - Buc get's his shot at some revenge from his earlier loss this season and K's looking to get back at the BCS that inevitably screwed his Jayhawks season. HEISMAN WR James Rodgers (OR ST) WR Bradley McDougald (KU) RB Jacquizz Rodgers (OR ST) RB Brandon Bolden (MISS) RB Michael Tucker (TCU) | |

| 2 Years 2 SEC's under Coach Macc for Ole Miss! 51-17
Lawon Scott making an impact, proving to be one of the top D Linemen coming up in the NFL Draft. Here he is on his sack on QB John Brantley.
At the beginning of the game in the Georgia Dome, the Ole Miss Rebels appeared to be still hungover from their sole loss on the season to Illinois. Florida managed 17 points in the first quarter and it looked like they would continue to roll, moving the ball at will. At the end of the first the Gators began the 2nd quarter, up 17-7 but key turnovers especially in Rebel territory sealed the victory for the Rebels.
Despite starting the game, backup QB Jevan Snead ended his season on a sour note. Despite being possibly the most important game of his career deciding his draft status next spring, Jevan was sidelined in the 2nd quarter suffering a late hit and breaking his jaw. It's an injury that as of right now will sideline him for six weeks, making him unable to play in the Bowl game the Rebels get into. With starter Ray Cotton not playing today, it was up to true freshman QB Frank Larsen to call the signals and he certainly picked up the slack.
"What really helped our confidence when installing Frank into our offence was the fact that CB Jeremy McGee was flying all around the ball this afternoon. He accounted for 6 points that put us up 24-17 and we never looked back. Jeremy's made a case for himself in the draft, being a senior he's a proven playmaker at the corner position and he's a very physical, MAKE you beat me corner that will have a great NFL career. He had a pick 6 and a forced fumble both coming from our side of the 50 when Florida appeared to be threatening," Macc said about his corner.
Frank Larsen who was installed last week against Illinois is a terrific runner at quarterback. He looks like a running back with the ball in his hands and he certainly has a bright future in Ole Miss, having won an SEC game while he took the majority of the snaps. He passed for just under 200 yards and accounted for two touchdowns.
Offensive MVP was given to Brandon Bolden for the second straight year in the SEC Championship, Bolden was tough to stop for the Gators and had a few big plays and key third down conversions that kept the ball in the Rebels hands. He got into the endzone twice this afternoon. On the defensive side of the ball, Derrick Herman also was honoured with his second straight SEC Defensive MVP, accounting for 8 tackles 3TFL.
"We knew we were ready for this game it was just about adjusting to Coach Meyer's play calling and making the most out of the opportunities they gave us. We lost the nerves shortly into the 2nd when our defence stepped up big and we knew when Frank went in we'd need to be overly confident to ensure he didn't feel like he had to win us the game. He played a great game and his ball to Breaux at the end was gorgeous," Derrick had to say.
The Rebels will be scoreboard watching because their bowl bid is dependant on tonights TCU/Kansas game, most likely they will be playing the loser in the Sugar Bowl. OFFENSIVE STANDOUTSQB Frank Larsen 11-21 196 yards 2TDsRB Brandon Bolden 23 carries 94 yards 1TD 7 catches 87 yards 1TDFB Derrick Davis 2 catches 84 yards 1TDWR Lionel Breaux 2 catches 78 yards 1TDWR Markeith Summers Kick Return TD DEFENSIVE STANDOUTSMLB Jonathan Cornell 8 tackles 3TFLFS Derrick Herman 8 tackles 3TFL 1SackSS Johnny Brown 7 tackles 1TFLMLB Joel Kight 6 tackles 1TFLDE Gerald Rivers 6 tackles 2TFL | |
