Bearcats Squash Orange, 45-0

2011 Week 9 Discussion Syracuse+v+Cincinnati+ewCkO0vf0Vqm

Syracuse, NY-- The University Of Cincinnati Bearcats Have improved their record to 7-1 (4-0) after crushing the Syracuse Orage today at the Carrier Dome.\

Know in recent years for their potent passing attack under Coach Clevmire1, the Bearcats today showed that they can not only run the ball effectively but that they can run all over you as they managed 325 yards on the ground.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this performance is that it was a complete team effort as Darrin Williams (5 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown), Isiah Pead (6 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown), Zach Collaros (4 carries for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground) and red shirt freshman Justin Petty (11 carries for 91 yards) all contributed in a big way.

Collaros also had figure of 18 for 29 with 190 yards 2 touchdowns and an interception to go with his 83 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.

Despite the offence giving up 3 turnovers on the day the nations #1 ranked defensive unit would not allow a single point against them as they barely allowed a first down. Joe Robinson and Dan Giordano were the standouts on defensive both finishing with 8 tackles and a sack.

Cincinnati has their second bye next week before starting one of the toughest runs home in the nation as they come up against #22 Rutgers, #2 Pitt, #20 West Virginia and Oklahoma.

The Rebels Ruin EERs Home Record

2011 Week 9 Discussion BLole2_t607
TE EJ Epperson on the play of the game down the sideline for his 59 yard score

Coach Macc's 9th ranked Ole Miss Rebels entered #18 West Virginia today and silenced a sellout crowd 35-7. The Rebels on the very first play of the game allowed a Kick Return Touchdown that would eventually be called back due to a blocking infraction on WVU.

"Any time you let a team have a big momentum boost on the kick off, regardless if it counts or not - it gives the entire arena the energy right off the bat. That's not the way you want to open a game thankfully we got to put our defence out there instead and I think they really fed off the energy after earning their only score on their first drive but we settled down. Our guys rallied and shut them down the rest of the game, any time they were in striking range we forced turnovers and I'm really happy with the play of our young D right now," Macc said.

Frank Larsen took todays snaps at starting QB and he had a great second half throwing 16/27 on the day for 274 yards and 4TDs all career highs for Frank. He showed he's a very similar QB to Ray Cotton and uses his feet when plays break down to either take off and run or get into space to have time to load and throw. Larsen was honoured with his first POTG also.

"When guys are out there bailing me out like Tray, EJ and Pat - turning incompletions into first downs it makes my job really easy. EJs catch and run today was unreal. It proved to be the game winning score and I think it gave us a lot of momentum seeing him roll that defender over and have enough speed to beat the defence trucking down the field. Our receiving corps deserves POTG," Frank said.

Brandon Bolden kept his Heisman hopes alive with a 20 carry 143 yard 1TD preformance ont he ground and also caught a swing screen and took it down the field 40 yards for a TD as well. Brandon got to celebrate with his hometown fans during his 4th quarter rushing score on a Wildcat play. Bolden was flagged for jumping into the stands but the uncharacteristic celebration on Bolden's part was after the Rebels had padded their 28 point lead.

"I don't know what got into me. I guess the fact that our team played so well on the road and how pumped we all were. I was really getting shut down and I finally got some open space and got to take off. I had Red and Navy in my vision the entire way and I couldn't contain myself," Brandon said.

Trey Talbot had an excellent game catching 6 passes for 66 yards and 2TDs, his 6th and 7th for the year. Trey also leads the team with 46 recpetions and 734 yards this season.

The Maryland Terrapins may want to reconsider labeling themselves the best safety duo in the nation because the 2010 Thorpe Award winner FS Derrick Herman and SS TJ Joseph were absolute ball hawks all day. TJ Joseph earned defensive POTG after a 10 tackle 8TFL 1Sack 1INT preformance - his best in his freshman campaign. His interception came on an extremely over thrown ball that he was in cover 2 for. The WVU receiver had no shot and TJ ran right underneath it and made the basket catch. No safeties are hitting anywhere near as hard as these two right now. The Defensive Line are really shining as RE Jason Jones accounts for 7 tackles 3TFL 2Sacks and LE Gerald Rivers gets 6 tackles 5TFL 3Sacks.

lol I don't really care to be honest - I think we could make an exception for all your hard work around here. I just don't want to be accused of any unfair treatment. I didn't allow Chris to pick a team that was 5* so let's hope they don't gain any prestige. KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THEM JESSE!

From looking at your stats...I feel that you are too pass oriented....thats what kills me in games...when I abandon the run and throw almost every time....when a defense knows whats coming, its a little easier to defend...especially in user games

oh..no wonder....i'm not a huge fan of their playbook...most of the runs are out of a shotgun...you need alot of speed to run out of that formation
