2018 Commitments
JOEL MORRIS *****
Quarterback
Conyers, Georgia
Conyers Tech
Ht: 6'0
Wt: 194 lbs
40: 4.52
Class: 2018
Strengths
Speed - Amazing speed for the quarterback position. The Bulldogs won't be dropping a single dime as Lamar Herron graduates in terms of pocket mobility, as Morris is recording Herron's very best 40 time on campus allready as a HS senior.
Accuracy - Usually when you see kids who play QB that can run, their accuracy isn't very good. Morris allready has college-ready accuracy that will not throw very many interceptions. He hasn't thrown one in a very tough D3 Georgia HS division in almost two years. He's very accurate and precise, but also very contious about decisions.
Weaknesses
Size - For being the type of player who makes a name for himself making plays with his feet to buy himself time, he'll be very suseptible to injury within his first couple years based on the fact that he doesn't have a very BIG body. He's very thick for a quarterback and suprisingly athletic for his size but he looks small on the field with college LBs. He won't be able to, like Lamar run and make plays and then steam roll a defensive back.
"This kid is a terrific athlete who will certainly make some noise in spring practice in regards to our quarterback position battle," Coach Macc said.
"I love UGA. I was born a Bulldog and the minute they decided to recruit me I knew right away I'd want to go there. I get to stay home and play infront of my friends and family. I can't wait," Joel Morris said about his commitment.
"I always want to win. I'll do whatever it takes. I've played injured almost my whole career so all the media attention about how I won't be tough enough can get thrown out the door. I hope to be running the 40 in the 4.4's by the time I get on campus," Morris said about his skills.
ZACH LEWIS ****
Wide Receiver
West Odessa, Texas
Permian
Ht: 6'5
Wt: 191 lbs
40: 4.46
Class: 2018
Strengths
Size - Lewis has a terrific football body that will allow him to make plays over shorter defensive backs. He has a knack for using his size to his advantage, catching the ball well outside with his hands, making it nearly impossible to make a play on him if a corner tries blanketing him.
Charisma - Zach is the typical hightlight reel receiver - loud, obnoxious, very team oreintated but also very, very skilled. He has the ability to make plays consistently and he loves to showboat, within the rules. He's the new breed and generation of Terrel Owens - without the off the field antics.
Weaknesses
Ball in Hands - Zach could improve his skills after he's caught the ball. He won't immediately be burning corners off the line so when he makes the short, possession catches he's supposed to make, he could improve his ability to shake defenders and make it down field. This comes easily with practice, better blocking up front as well as confidence... if he really needs any.
"Zach is a great receiver with unlimited potential for us. He'll be a terrific Bulldog. He'll be right in there in the position battle but if he doesn't crack our top 3, we'll red shirt him for a year so he can have four years of starting experience," Coach Macc said about his plans for Lewis.
"Like my homie Ryan Walker says - UGA ALL DAY!" Zach told reporters about his commitment.
