| This week the Oregon Ducks and Coach Santana seem to be getting the webfoots back on the right track as they have opened up thier 2013 Campaign with a 2-0 start with 2 wins over top 25 teams on the road which even for coach santana is an unexpected start.. However the road wouldnt get any easier this week as the 25th Ranked Tennessee Vols Came to town... The Vols would come out with the determination to spoil the Ducks home opener and thier hopes of a good season. The defense was flying every where and the offense was running a muk and at the with 52 left in the second they would lead the ducks 20-7. with only 50 secs left in the half coach santana told his guys"We can take thier momentum.. get our crowd back into this and make this a game with a score here before half.. Lets give them a fight we have worked too hard to let them come here and beat us.." and no one would take that more serious than the 2 offensive leaders. Qb Daryle Hawkins and Reciver DIante Jackson. The first 2 plays were a penalty and a 10 yd run by howard but then it was all Hawkins and Jackson as they would hook up 5 times in a row for 65 yards and a td to go into the half 20-14. "That was a huge drive for us we needed that it really let our guys belive that we still had a shot" Santana. The second half wouldnt be a cake walk tho Oregon would get the ball at half and drive and score going up 21-20 and Tennessee would answer right back with a dirve of thier own and get the 2pt conversion taking the lead again 28-21. Oregon would answer right back on the next possession and tie the game up at 28 a piece. The defense would stand tall and get the ball back to thier offense who was seemingly unstoppable behind thier tru freshman rb howard and would score again going up 35-28. The defense would force another stop and the offense would march right back down the field and score again 42-28 Oregon. Tennessee wasnt ready to go just yet moving the ball 80 yards down the field to score again 42-35 Tennessee. The would fail to recover the onside kick and Oregon would score once more to end the game 49-35 over Tennessee. Player of the game was fr rb Mike Howard 22 att 228 yards and 3 touchdowns...This is no time for the ducks to start to celebrate its still early in the season and they start thier walk down a hard road thru the pac 10 starting with number 6 ranked USC next week.. | |
