PostSubject: 2016 Week 5 Discussion   2016 Week 5 Discussion EmptyThu 08 Apr 2010, 8:07 am

Gotw puts the #6 Florida State Seminoles vs the #7 Oregon State Beavers.. Fsu has to travel to Corvalis in Resser Stadium to try and pull out a big win..Oregon state comes into this game with the 7th ranked offense in the nation.. whats surprising about that statistic is they are 8th in the nation in pass offense which is normally not coach 9's style but this year he has played his offense around his talent and thus far it as been successful.. this could spell disaster for the Seminoles as thier defense is the 6th worst against the pass... FSU is looking for a leader at the helm and have been undecided as to who will start at qb in this game.. Even hours before kick off we dont kno who the starting qb will be.. Fsu however is packing one of the best defenses in the country vs the run so the question for this game is will Oregon State revert back to thier traditional style of football in a big game n allow florida state to dominate.. or does coach 9's air it out and continue to play a game different from his natural style of play.. we shall see as kick off is right around the corner!

Buckeyes Throttle Nevada in Columbus 51-17 as Brock runs wild:

Columbus, OH--

In a OOC matchup between the WAC and Big 10, the Big 10 power game dominated the trenches, as Clint Brock tried to get his name in Heisman consideration. Rushing for 224 yards on 22 carries, the Junior scored 4TD in the game, and started early as his first touch went 67 yards to paydirt. "I feel like the coaches trust me now to carry the team, I don't want to disappoint. The Heisman is cool, but I do it for my team."

VIDEO COMING....

The Wolfpack's crazy pistol offense annoyed the SilverBullets in the first half keeping close 31-17. But the adjustements were made, and that was pressure off the edge. As true Freshman SS Rory Hairston was causing havoc in the backfield all second half. Forcing a INT, and grabbing one himself, while also sacking the QB once.

This performance as a team is positive as the Bucks will open Big 10 play. "We always have the goal to win our conference and let the rest take care of itself" Coach Phillips re-iterates.

i know. it really is fvcked up. for some ungodly reason, CB's love UNC. every year i end up taking 2 or 3 when i already have like 5 on my depth chart rated 85 or over. yet, i continue to go after them. they're like crack.

Oregon took on one of coach harbaugs old teams in the Stanford Cardinals.. and again this game was dominated by the defense of the ducks.. How ever there was a scary moment in this game as qb Atari West went down in the second "I just wanted him to get up.. he is the leader of our offense and i have watched him grow into a man .. what a scary moment.." Coach Santana.. Atari was carted off into the locker room and upon diagnosis it was declared he suffered a severe back spasm and would only miss the rest of the game..by that point he already had 211 yds and 4 td.. in 4 games this year the duck d has given up only 14 points.."The are a group of warriors even today when they let them drive into our redzone here come pedro to make a great interception and take it back for a score..SS Brown is the leader and hit moto is the defense is the security guards of the money vault and no one is allowed inside ever!!!" Coach santana on his defense. The ducks win in blowout fashion 56-0..

This is the best defense i have ever had they lock it down week in and week out its kinda scary!

Illinois opens conference play with a big win Saturday night against Michigan State 26-7.

1st quarter
MSU scored first after a long drive ending with a 3 yard pass to FB Jason Fry. That would be the last time MSU scored. Shortly after Illinois QB Jay Bell Hooked up with Clint Bailey for a 56 yard pass that was stopped at the 1 yard line. On the next play Bell hit TE Tyrone Olsen on a one yard bootleg pass.

2nd quarter
Both teams played hard Defense and kept each other off the scoreboard.

3rd Quarter.
The 2nd Half was all Illinois. K Jerrell Morris kicked 2 FG's to put the Illini up by 6 points going into the 4th.

4th Quarter.
The Illini Defense came together and put on a hell of a showing. Every offensive possession for MSU ended with a 3 and out. The Fighting Illini went to their running game to lead them to the finish line. Sophomore RB Mike Drew led the Illini Down the field on a 41 yard rushing TD from the Wildcat Formation.

Coach Gang Comment:
It was a great battle. MSU did challenge our offense and at the half we had to adjust some things and we saw that we didnt run the ball much in the first half so we just stuck to the running game for the 2nd half and that got us the victory. The Defense played a great game the whole game. Stopping the run coming up with Sacks hey what more can you ask for.

Final Stats

Passing
Jay Bell 16-24 226 yards 1TD 1 INT

Rushing
Mike Drew 22 - 117 yards 1 TD
Lee Johnson 9 - 22 yards 1 TD

Receiving
Steven Hinds 4 REC 60 Yards
Clint Bailey 4 REC for 107 yards
Tyrone Olsen 2 REC 14yards TD

Defense
Mike Sharp 12 TACK 9 TLF 5 Sacks

Georgia Stomps Kentucky On The Road 80-16

Powered behind a very poised QB Lamar Herron, the Bulldogs easily handled the Kentucky Wildcats, in Lexington. Herron lead the emotionally charged team offensively with a cool 12/22 on the day for 274 yards and 5 TDs, argueably Herron's best game in his bright young career. His only blemish came in the form of a second quarter interception on a deep ball in which the Wildcat corner made a great jumping catch.

"I'm trying to avoid the little interceptions where I force a throw with a defender in my face, they often flail in the air and get intercepted cheaply. I want to make teams have to defend me when I've got time in the pocket. When our defence wins the turnover battle 7-2, it makes our job much easier on offence and when we are comfortable, we can do some serious damage,"

Defensively, the Bulldogs played their best game of the season. The offensive line set the tone with three opening drive sacks to force a punt and they continued to keep the pressure up. Impact LOLB Sean Watkins lead the team with 10 tackles 1 TFL while CB Bob Garrison accounts for 8 tackles, 2 INTs and a forced fumble. MLB Chris Woodson had a luke warm day in the tackle category with 5 1TFL, but was Johnny On The Spot with an interception returned (28 yards) for a TD and a fumble recovery (51 yards) from FS Jake Jackson's career defining hit on a Wildcat ball carrier who had no hope to hold on. Woodson is proving week in and week out he's more than deserving of the starting job Coach Macc has given him.

Ryan Walker exceeds 150 yards for the third straight week, this week with 185 on 27 carries at 6.8 a clip. Luke Miles spelled him out five times in the game for 34 yards but looked good doing so, he also averaged 6.8 per carry and accounted for one score, while Walker had two rushing on the day but his lone reception also went 74 yards for a touchdown on a gorgeous screen.

On the receiving end, Dominique Browning is proving to be a very steady receiving target for Lamar Herron with his 4 catch 96 yard, 24.0 per catch average 1TD day. Herron connected with Browning for a 56 yard score in the middle of the game that Browning just used his speed to burn the Kentucky secondary for the long catch and run.

"Great win for our program as we look forward to our rival next week Mississippi State. We have a few important recruits visiting as well so it should be a good one," Macc said.
