| QB Jay Landrum (Hazelton, PA) 5* ESPNU150 (#1 QB) JUCO (JR) 6'2" 209.lbs Pocket Passer Jay Landrum quickly became a household name for college scouts and college football fans. The high school state of Penn record shattering gun slinger has kept his name in people's mouths all across the country, for the right and the wrong reasons. Landrum has the arm strength and accuracy to be an All American QB the minute he steps on campus, however it's been allegations and convictions that kept him off the playing field, especially at the D-1 level. In Landrum's senior HS year, despite being a heavy favourite to enroll at Pittsburgh or Penn State - Landrum's college career was sidelined and he was caught and charged with posessesion of 14 grams of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Landrum insists it was the worst mistake of his life, and proved to be one costly that's kept him off the field the last three years and has him playing at Hazelton, a D2 junior college in Penn. With his record now clean and Coach Macc's ability to "wipe clean slates" Landrum received the opportunity to play and immediately start for the Panthers after a year behind what will be next year SR QB Tino Sunseri.
COACH COMMENTS - "There's no denying this kids talent. Every coach in the country wishes they could say Jay Landrum has committed to them. You won't see another QB prospect with this type of college ready arm for another ten years. Our coaching staff feels very comfortable having Jay on a short leesh and keeping a close eye on him. He's made the decision to provide him with a scholarship an easy one and ensured us his off the field antics are dead and gone, he wants to work. We can easily say Jay will redshirt while Tino finishes up his career but that will be a redshirt given to him that will have a short leesh and he knows he could be the go-to-guy barring an injury or poor preformance,"
RB Jacob Lee (Piqua, OH) 4* ESPNU150 (#19 RB) HS 6'0" 200.lbs All Purpose Back The second and much less criticized commitment the Panthers have received early is from another offensive skill player in all purpose back Jacob Lee. Lee made his decision to enroll at Pitt next fall based on the offensive line prospects garnering consideration to Pitt as well as the recent heritage of backs they've had. "Dion's the man, I hope I one day get to carry the ball twenty times like him, I'll rush for 1800 too!" The ever so confident back is a sure fire candidate to be a return man, and could see playing time earlier than he's projected. A terrificially gifted physically and athletically student of the game, Lee is a very hard worker who uses his speed to his advantage and can play all three downs.
COACH COMMENTS - "We're very happy to add to the depth we have at running back. We're almost certain Dion will be going pro after this year, so we need to be ready for him to make that decision and have some kids on the bench fired up to go. Lee adds some speed to our back depth and will be a big help in our passing game as well. He'll create mismatch problems for defenders with his speedy, shifty ability to get open. He's a natural ball carrier. I can see him as being our highlight reel running back sometime in the future," | |

| CB Mike Fletcher (Brook Park, OH) 5* ESPNU150 (#1 CB, #21 OVR) HS 6'2" 170.lbs Athletic Corner With four VERY average cornerbacks graduating out of the Pittsburgh system, coaches knew they needed to find guys who could come in and play immediately. Mike Fletcher is the perfect example of a guy who can come in day one, with the skills, know how and ability to play in clutch situations and shut down a teams fastest wideout. Don't let the depth charts fool you, Fletcher may play dime or nickle back in those sets because of his blazing 4.32 speed to help Pittsburgh shut down an area of their defence that's been exploited all year - the quick slot receivers in the middle of the field. Fletcher's coverage skills are good, and he has plenty of time to improve them but what makes him an eye opening prospect is his speed, his long lanky build, his ability to recognize plays and play all four downs. Fletcher makes it onto the field day one at Pitt.
COACH COMMENTS - "If when you told me that we'd need to replace four corners that I'd get Mike Fletcher to commit to our team, there wouldn't have been much I wouldn't have done. This kid is an amazing athlete and a hard worker who comes to play every day. Fletcher's going to without a doubt be the guy on our team that covers an opposing teams fastest receiver. Fletcher will be the type of corner we gameplay with and around to make sure we have him matched up properly. He will add a dynamic to our coaching staff and gameplan with his wheels. Great sign,"
FS Preston East (Chester, PA) 5* ESPNU150 (#1 FS, #14 OVR) HS 5'10" 180.lbs Hard Hitter Preston East is your, every day - do it all safety. While he may not be the most physically imposing, his 4.32 speed and his ability to lay the lumber make him a perfect prototype for Coach Macc's DB system. With the ammount of speed they've recruited this season, they will be allowed ot let East roam free in center field, trracking deep balls and keeping an eye on the run. East's easily the most physical recruit in the nation and argueably the best all around athlete. He can tackle any ball carrier and he plays with a vengance and with no remorse. East starts immediately and may even beat out two-year starter Jarred Holley for his job.
COACH COMMENTS - "Preston's a local kid who has gotten a ton of attention around here through his senior season. A senior at Chester HS he's been all over the news and he's used to playing infront of big crowds. He's an emotion player that has a short memory and man oh MAN that kid can flat out HIT! Preston runs like a corner but hits like a linebacker and he'll be on the field immediately... we will MAKE a spot for him. This kids going to have a few Thorpe Awards by the time he's ready for the NFL."
CB Walter Murphy (Harrison, MI) 4* HS 6'2" 180.lbs Coverage Corner
CB Tramon Beck (Norwich, CT) 4* HS 6'2" 174.lbs Physical Corner
RT Tremayne McFadden (Romulus, MI) 3* HS 6'3" 283.lbs Run Blocker
