| Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That was the story of the first Saturday in Athens in 2013 as Q4TB kicks off it's SIXTH installment. We got right down and dirty right away as the Terrapins of Maryland came into Athens to take on the newly Macc-coached Georgia Bulldogs. It would be seven turnovers that would eventually be the difference between the two teams as the Bulldogs pulled away with an impressive victory 45-14 in Coach Macc's first game as Head Coach.
It's no secret Shaun Macc is a very defensive back orientated, heavy pass rush type of defensive guy and rightfully so, earning his name throughout the Canadian HS Football system making sacks and catching interceptions while he played as safety and cornerback. Macc was a bit close with all of his defensive backs at Ole Miss, but this year there's a new man on campus and obviously Coach Macc's enthusiasm and approach to the defensive side of the ball is paying dividends for this kid - Dwayne Stevenson hauled in THREE of the teams five interceptions on the day and TWO of them went back for a touchdown.
In the first quarter, Maryland forced what would be Georgia's only turnover of the day and they drove all the way down the field and looked to be in cruise control on their way to the endzone. Maryland QB M. Hopkins left a ball hanging in the air on a third down try and Mr Pick Six Dwayne Stevenson waited, reacted and took it all the way down the sideline for six. Sanford Stadium was loud as can be as Stevenson took it 70 yards for paydirt.
Just as the Georgia marching band kicked in, so did the Terrapins deadly kick return game. Even before the band stopped playing "Glory, Glory" KR K. Hunter took the kick return all the way back for six, 95 yards to tie it at 7.
Maryland forced a punt and looked to have all the momentum in their hands as they drove all the way down the field to the Georgia one yard line. Tough goalline stand resulted in Maryland attempting to throw on third down and QB M. Hopkins was pressured intensely as he released the ball and it flailed into the air, guess who. Dwayne Stevenson hauled it in at the Georgia 2 yard line and took it the distance, didn't look back ONCE. 14-7 Georgia.
RB Chris Wade turned it up after the first quarter, rushing for 205 yards on the day on 29 touches with 2TDs. Wade made his early case for Heisman and the senior proved he's a versatile back and the type that wears a defence down and gets better as the game goes on.
"We've got a terrific QB in Rory Thatcher here at UGA but we think he's a bit latter getting used to the new offensive system so we didn't want him to do too much today. Thankfully our guys we're winning the battles in the trenches all day and we could just pound the ball at the Terps. Chris Wade will hurt you in many different ways and he's the type of kid who enjoys taking the ball 30 times a game. It also helps when you get 7 turnovers on defence, it keeps things relaxed on the offensive side of the ball. Coach Hickerson played a terrific game, we just got some VERY lucky bounces. His kick return team is by far the best I've ever seen, he nearly scored on four different KR's after the first one went for six. Hats off to him and the program he's building there," Macc said.[/color] | |

| Man that sucked, those picks were awful, nor the games fault either, definitely on me. They were all those type of picks as soon as you pressed the button you knew you had fucked up. Except the pick from the 1, I tried to get all cute and run a play action on first down and I threw the famous get hit As you throw flutter pass. I still felt good after that then when I drove down field my tight end fumbled, just not my day... this is by far the best team I have had though, I just played a terrible game lol, can you come to college park next year macc? | |

| A Power Struggle in Cincy find Ohio State on Top 41-27
No write up this week, gonna hurry and advance it for your guys..
Future write-ups will be good.
Boy does tis years team have a different feel. I don't really have any gamebreakers. But alot of steady players. My 5th year QB Braxton Miller is solid though. He had a nice game.
My Frosh HB is a bruiser. Defense is eh...got some work to do there.
Going to advance | |
