Coach 9's arrived in Corvallis 9 years ago determined to turn the Beavers back to their winning past. He's done it and then some. Oregon State has won the PAC-10 Championship 4 Times, countless top 10 finishes ,and a couple seasons ago even got into the BCS Championship. Look for more of the same this time around, with National Championship aspirations running rampant in Corvallis.
Offense
After four Years of Ryan Gates and Grant Harvey at QB, RS-SO Chris Richards is the only Beaver QB with any college experience. He spent the spring competing with RS-FR Power Stephenson, and RS-JR Mickey Perry and came out on top, but the competition is far from over. Whoever wins the QB job will be working behind a line with only 1 new starter. Junior RT Gavin Adams and Senior Lawrence Peters both return at both bookends. Experience is not a concern at RB either, where SR Calvin Watkins returns with his career 2,324 yds and 28 TDs. Both starters are back at the wideout position, and Reggie Rowe and Ricky Henry combined for 106 receptions 1,924 yds and 21 TDs. Returning Starting TE Matt Outlaw added 51 receptions for 665yds and 8 scores.
Defense
The no. 1 Defense in the nation last season, returns only 4 starters, but Heisman winner and All-American Michal Muse again is back to patrol the middle and bring the wood. "We're going to be dominant" predicted Muse " we're going to be a good defense. I think a lot of guys know it. We expect it out of ourselves too." The Dline is very young and green, but the Secondary returns both starting Safetys. Paul Jones finished second for the Thorpe award so expect the Beav's D to be buzzing once again this season!
