| The Lions Have signed their 1st recruit of the 2016 season. Mike Paul OT 6'3 273lbs, Cranford, New Jersey 4**** 14th ranked OT Mike Chose Penn State over West Virginia and Texas Mike has been timed at 5.00 running the 40 and maxes out at 420lbs on the Bench Press, and 595lbs on the squat. 2016 Scout.com HS Football Rankings (full list): Pos: OT Pos Rank: #14 Pos Rating: Scout.com Player Evaluation: STRENGTHS Aggresiveness / Tenacity Nasty Streak Power And Strength AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT Pass Protection Has a solid build, but will easily add size in college. He has a very powerfull upper body and uses his strength to punish opponents. Very good on run blocking where he uses his strength to coil up and knock opponents off balance. Needs some work on pass protection but he is okay in that category. Can get to the second level and be used to pull. Biography: 2015: In Mike Paul's junior season (8-5, three rounds deep into the playoffs)he had 161 knockdowns, 155 pancake blocks, and an average line score of 89 percent. Paul says he can bench 420-pounds, squat 595 and claims a 28-inch vertical jump. Paul reports a 3.5 core GPA and is awaiting his March 14 SAT result Paul: “I’m really good at finishing off blocks. I don’t stop until the whistle blows. I’m always practicing my technique and am working on playing lower. I need to bend my knees more and improve my balance. I also need to work on staying square in pass protection.”

Has a quick first step and gets even with OTs on the snap. Is advanced enough to take advantage of OTs that overcompensate, and really understands leverage in that regard. Is very good against reach blocks (sweep, etc.), primarily because of his length, but he needs to work on condensing gaps against base blocks (inside run, ISO, etc.). Huge upside--Burke Hayes Biography: Following his junior season, Houston received All-Area, All-Region, and second team All-State recognition after accumulating 105 tackles including 17 for a loss and eight sacks, and 34 quarterback hurries. Plans to graduate in December.

Smart player and leader who should be a solid player in college. – Midwest Recruiting Analyst Dave Berk Biography: Hard-hitting linebacker from Cleveland St. Ignatius … all-state as a junior and senior for Coach Chuck Kyle … all-Northeast Lakes district … Cleveland Plain Dealer 2016 defensive player of year, recording 144 tackles, 18 sacks, 44 TFL, two interceptions … nominated for both Ohio all-star games … also runs the 110m high hurdles for the Wildcats … Latin and service clubs … son of Dave and Gina Ellis. As a junior, Ellis recorded 93 tackles including 35 for loss and 17 sacks. A starter since his sophomore season, Ellis also runs track for St. Ignatius.

Gonzalez: “I think I’ve been coached well and have a high level of discipline. I have good size and strength and think that I can dominate at the high school level. I’m also really athletic for my size. “My school has been traditionally known as a running school so I’m pretty strong on run protection.” “But this year we’ve got a pretty good strong-armed quarterback and plan on passing the ball a lot more. His father is former Maryland Terrapin nose guard Tyrone Johnson, who played for the Terps from '79 to '83 and was a three-year letterman. I play kind of like (former Michigan linebacker and current Pittsburgh Steeler) Lamar Woodley - fast, strong and powerful.” “I want to work on my moves off the ball,” he said. “And I want to get faster overall. Some feel that Anderson is destined for a move to linebacker with his size but he has very good change of direction skills and the speed to cover a lot of ground.
